COVID BQ.1 Variant Enters the Philippines

Omicron subvariant BQ.1 continues to rise in the Philippines

Omicron subvariant BQ.1, responsible for increased infections in the US, UK, and Europe, continues to rise in the PH. As of December 2022, 17 cases have been confirmed.

DOH continues its vaccination programs, especially for kids ages 5 to 11 years old, to decrease the chances of a COVID spike.

The public and LGUs are also encouraged to continue practicing safety measures such as wearing face masks, getting boosted, and washing their hands with alcohol.
