CVMC opens new COVID-19 isolation facility

A 32-bed capacity isolation facility for COVID-19 patients was inaugurated today at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center.

The facility is a converted container vans established by the Department of Public Works and Highways through the office of 3rd district Representative Joseph Lara which costs P28.7 million.

The inauguration of the additional isolation facilities is very timely as COVID-19 cases, especially in the city, are further increasing and the utilization rate of the hospital's COVID ward is already at maximum level.

They have earlier allotted 85 beds for COVID-19 patients, however, the number of daily referral is now over the number of established beds that is why they really need to add more isolation rooms.

Each room is good only for one patient with comfortable bed, a clean and tiled comfort room, an air-conditioning unit, an electric fan and a table. There are two doctors and nurses' stations for those who will be supervising the day-to-day operation of the facility.

Aside from the COVID-19 patients who are referred to the hospital, the health care providers of CVMC, who might also be infected of the virus, may also use the facility.
