Taguig grants gratuity pay to contract of service, job order workers

LGUs can provide assistance to their citizens as a way of showing support to them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City Government of Taguig has released a P3,000 gratuity pay to all Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers for their "tireless" and "whole-hearted" service amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gratuity pay was granted to COS and JO  workers based on their length of service in the city, or those who rendered service for two (2) months to less than 3 months received P1,000, those who have rendered service for three (3) months or more received P2,000, and those who have rendered service for four (4) months or more received P3,000.

As COS and JO workers do not have employee-employer relationships, the local government said, the benefits regular employees such as Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), PAG-IBIG, and other incentives are not available to them.

However, it said it "recognizes the integral role" their 5,000 plus workers provide in the "effective implementation of programs, projects, and activities of the city."
