Youth: Shields and Hope in the Fight against COVID-19

LGUs can collaborate with SKs to implement programs that could help citizens in the battle against COVID-19.

The Sangguniang Kabataan of the Municipality of Lake Sebu initiated programs in order to assist the local government unit in containing the spread of COVID-19.

The Sangguniang Kabataan acknowledged the importance of effective communication especially this time of pandemic. To help boost the local government’s communication line down to the barangays, the SK provided 20 handheld transceiver radios to every barangay.

The Free Mask Program aims to provide free face masks to all residents who don’t have, or can’t afford to buy facemasks. They provided free face masks to the barangay’s frontline workers, including employees of the local government, to help ensure that they are protected against COVID-19.

They also provided food packs to frontline workers assigned at different COVID outposts during ECQ, and supported the Mobile Lugaw Program, a feeding program for kids in Barangay Lamdalag, Lake Sebu.
