Batac City distributes 620 water pumps to tobacco growers

LGUs can give help to farmers and other sectors in their community while the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing.

At least 620 units of gasoline engine water pumps were given to tobacco growers in the City of Batac.

This is part of the city government’s commitment to strengthen workers in the tobacco industry by giving them necessary equipment to boost productivity and income while the country is under a global pandemic

The water pumps were funded through the tobacco fund under Republic Act 7171.

The city government was able to allocate Php11-million for the purchase of these water pumps to be used by the farmers for the timely irrigation of the tobacco crops.

True to their commitment to continuously provide programs and services that will uplift the lives of every Batacqueño, the Batac City Agriculture Office also facilitated the distribution of free inbred palay seeds to 186 farmer beneficiaries on January 13.

The city government vows to ensure no farmer is left behind especially that the threat of COVID-19 is still present.
