DOH-10 beefs up support for VAWC drive

LGUs can disseminate information about Violence against Women and Children to their communities.

In observance of the Violence against Women and Children (VAWC) awareness month, the Department of Health (DOH) – 10 has given its all-out support to this yearly campaign in the midst of the coronavirus disease (COVID) – 19.

The role of the DOH for its women and children protection unit is to provide technical assistance by means of providing training to our DOH retained hospitals.

In adherence to Administrative Order No. 2013-0011 or the revised policy on the Establishment of Women and their Children Protection Units in all government hospitals, which aims to upgrade operational capacities and train health care personnel with the recognition, recording, and reporting VAWC cases, DOH is monitoring their health institutions in the region to ensure compliance.

As the country reels from the economic, health, and social uncertainty brought about by the pandemic, cases of domestic sexual abuses arising from the implementation of home quarantine measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 have also been observed. Thus, the DOH is giving psychosocial support to the victims.
