Ilonggos are gradually transforming their city and province into a livable, progressive, sustainable, and resilient one after the social and economic impacts during the height of the pandemic. Here are their achievements for the year 2022.
1. Seal for Beyond Compliant during the 2022 Gawad Kalasag
Iloilo’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) has exceeded the standards prescribed in the Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act of 2010.
2. Galing Pook Award for I-Bike Program
Iloilo implemented a program that promotes the development of bike culture with the support of LGUs for proper infrastructure.
3. Sector Recovery Year
The province maximized the potential of different sectors through the following:
- Job and employment opportunities in the agriculture sector
- Rehabilitation of its markets and plazas
- Restoration of heritage sites for tourism opportunities
- Business expansions in its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector
- Establishing different educational programs such as the Special Education Fund
