The LGU aimed to alleviate poverty in the community and prevent violent extremism.
The LGU launched a scholarship program for students from the poorest sector in the community, including children of former violent extremists.
Together with their Sangguniang Kabataan, the LGU was able to sponsor 30 scholars and provide P10,000 for their school fees with an additional P3000 incentive per semester.
Guideline 1: Find a solution as close to the root problem as possible.
The Tuburan LGU recognized that violent extremism is often rooted in a lack of opportunities and resources for residents to thrive. As a result, they devised an educational solution to empower the youth with more opportunities.
Guideline 2: Extend educational support even after graduation.
Aside from educational assistance, the LGU gave their beneficiaries support in finding employment after graduation.
