Butig, a landlocked municipality within the coastal province of Lanao del Sur, boasts a land area of 331.49 square kilometers. With a population of 22,768 recorded in the 2020 Census and featuring 16 barangays, Butig is renowned for its historical significance and rich cultural heritage, proudly showcasing the unique traditions and history of its people, making it a noteworthy landmark in the province.
Maximizing its vast farmlands and forest landscape, as well as its existing irrigation systems surrounded by rivers and lakes, the municipality aims to promote sustainable farming by introducing modern agricultural techniques and adopting organic farming methods, which in turn will improve crop yields and boost the livelihood of farmers in Butig. Through this initiative, the local government also aims to establish value chains that will enhance market access, increase income opportunities for farmers, and transform the municipality of Butig into a thriving agro-ecotourism destination.
