Pagayawan, previously known as Tatarikan, is a landlocked municipality nestled within the coastal province of Lanao del Sur. Covering a land area of 218.00 square kilometers, the municipality is home to a population of 15,057 according to the 2020 Census. Pagayawan stands out for its rich cultural heritage and traditions, offering a vibrant display of the customs and practices deeply ingrained in the local populace.
In its continuous effort to battle threats to safety and security within the municipality, the local government of Pagayawan, under the leadership of Local Chief Executive Mayor Khalida Polao-Sanguila, launched the Municipal Identification Card initiative known as “One Name, One Identity: Walang Maiwan, Pagayawan.” The municipal-wide digital ID system aims to address problems of peace and security, secure accurate demographic data of bonafide residents of Pagayawan, improve accessibility to services, ease of doing business and transactions within the municipality, and minimize the risk of identity theft and fraud.
