Tipo-Tipo, a coastal municipality in Basilan, boasts rugged terrain and cultural richness, embodying the resilient spirit of its residents. Covering 217.00 square kilometers, it is home to a population of 25,531 divided into 11 barangays as per the 2020 Census, illustrating the community's enduring vitality amidst challenging surroundings.
Tipo-Tipo has been recognized as the municipality with the lowest percentage of malnourished children and as the most improved in terms of infants and children’s survival.They implemented the Adopt a SAM Child Program in their community, which provides nutrition interventions, including Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, a method known as “food for the world’s children,” to severely malnourished children. Beneficiaries are also enrolled in a nutrition care program, with their progress tracked on a weekly basis by Barangay Health Workers, and receive one sack of 25 kg of rice and a weekly food pack. To keep track of the beneficiaries’ progress, regular nutrition counseling sessions are conducted.
